It’s Miami Beach!

Back in Spring, while being in NYC for more than a month after a few weeks with cold and rain we started to dream about some warm place and for some happy coincidence we’ve had a job in Miami and for the first time in my life I left NYC with a huge smile on my face!

Miami was a big surprise, in absolutely positive way! It was our first time so we’ve been under explosion of emotions and “wow” effect every second as always happening to me when I visit a place for the first time.

We’ve been really curious to find all the best places and make of these few days the best experince possible of discovering Miami Beach! In this article I’m gonna share with you all my favorite places, where to eat,to go and the best rooftops in Miami!

Where to stay in Miami:

First of all for me Miami is the beach, so being closer to the beach was my priority. So our choice was to stay in Miami Beach and in case we wanted to go to see the city we could easily find a taxi or uber.

When travel we really love to rent apartments for live the place in less turistic way, and our choice is always airbnb.com where we always find what works better for us.

Our apartment was in those cool two level white houses just a few steps from the beach on 14th street. This is a very great location for so many reasons, for example it’s a very nice and quiet area and safe, the center with all the shops is just a few blocks away, the Espaniola way with all the cute restaurants is just behind the corner and the beach is right there.

Places:

As we didn’t had a lot of time we decide to limit this trip to Miami Beach, trying to get the best of this place!

Lincoln Road is the heart of Miami Beach, a long street full of palm trees and any kind of stores, and for this reason it’s called Lincoln Road mall as it’s looks as an open air mall. There are many coffes and restaurants and so many people during the afternoon.

Espanola way was a few blocks from our apartment and already athe first evening we wen’t there to have a look at those pretty colorful houses. The streets is honestly very cute, but I was a little disappointed to see just italian restaurants and was expecting the streets being a little longer.

Ocean drive is one of the most famous streets of Miami Beach and it’s so charming and very Miami in the afternoon. Full of restaurants and hotels, the biggest drinks are there!

South Pointe Park it’s a very beautiful park where you can chill, have a walk or a picnic! The vew of the bay is so nice and the background with tallest buildings of the island is amazing!

Where to eat in Miami Beach:

Delano South Beach was my favorite places for a dinner or for a drink at late night. The place is amazing with a huge garden and the plates are very delicious!

Five guys I’m not a big fan of the fast food but I decided to give a chance to this one, and I was pretty surprised by the quality of this place. I wouldn’t even call it fast food but just a burger place and they are truly delicious!

La Sanwicherie has amazing food, I loved it! The sanwiches are so huge but so good and there is a very big choice! It was really close to our house, between 14th and Collins Ave. The place is very popular and has a huge line of people close to the lunch and dinner time, so go a llittle before or after. Ah, another this is that it’s open air which is amazing!

Havana 1957 Cuban Cuisine in espanola way is another good place with some delicious chicken. We stoped there at our first day, when there were a kind of hurricane, we ate outside under the ubrella with the sound of rain and that heat of summer hurricane. It was a very magic way to start this journey! These memories of that moment are so vivid in my mind!

Where to drink:

As a huge lover of a good glass of wine or a cocktail to chill in the evening, we’ve been on search for some cool place without going too far from the house. On Ocean drive there are so many places but all with a very high level music, many many people and huge but not such a good quality cocktails and if some day I’m totally fine with this kind of places, sometime I just want more chill place where to relax.

We tried two places and I loved both of them for different reasons.

Delano Beach Hotel and here we are again in this place! Yes, I really loved it and will be ready to be back there tomorrow. The bar is in the garden close to the pool and there is such a nice and elegant atmosphere, with many lights and private tables with white sofas. An absolute heaven!

Juvia a very nice place for a tasty drink with good music and 6th floor view.

Tips & tricks:

  • at the entrance of the beach there are sunscreen dispensers, very useful when you forget it at home!
  • many people do not speak english but spanish, just to let you know 🙂
  • to see some part of the city we rented a scooter on 14th street for half day and we’ve drived to wynwood and around Miami Beach. It was an awesome experince, we saw crazy beautiful places and a bunch of emotions! Do it!
